A Climber's Dictionary

Here are some terms to describe activities from our trek.

Belay - To manage a climber's rope and catch them in the event of a fall. The person who does this is called a belayer.

Boulder - To climb without a rope, staying close to the ground to limit the danger of a fall. Bouldering is a great way to warm up for a bigger climb.

Free Climb - To climb with your own strength and finesse, using a rope only for safety and not to help you up.

Repel - To descend a rope. Repelling is usually the easiest and fastest way down from the top of a climb.
